What is hard water and how do you make it soft?
Water containing calcium and magnesium in termed "hard" because it reacts adversely with soap and interferes with the cleaning process. The hardness minerals form a scale inside your kettle, appliances, and water heater, pipes and plumbing fixtures. They react adversely with soap to create a scum or curd, which forms a thick film on your shower, appears as a bathtub ring and makes your laundry dull and gray. Hard water is more than a nuisance; it costs you a lot of money.
You can eliminate these problems with the Advantage Two water conditioner and filtration system. Water passes through a bed of ion exchange resin and the hardness minerals attach to resin beads. When the beads become saturated with hardness minerals, they are automatically regenerated. A brine solution is drawn into the bed, releasing the accumulated minerals, which are rinsed away with fresh water, leaving the recharged resin to soften your water again.
Objectional Tastes and Odors
Water containing dissolved or suspended organic material will exhibit tastes, odors and colors, which are offensive to potable water users. Excess chlorine can also cause taste and odor problems. The Advantage Two is a two-in-one water treatment system, which utilizes granulated, activated carbon for the reduction of these impurities. Activated carbon filters are specially designed to ensure that water passes down through the filter bed evenly and with sufficient contact time to allow for effective adsorption.
